Everseal units from FGI’s IG range are giving customers a clear view into Dwell’s new flagship furniture store in Manchester’s Trafford Centre. The 250m2 glazed shopfront incorporates Everseal units fitted with panes of glass up to 2685mm x 2500mm. The large sized units are well within the capability of FGI’s new Bystronic IG production line, which also features the latest Thermo Plastic Spacer (TPS) warm edge technology for significantly higher thermal efficiency.

The new 10,000 sq ft store in the Trafford Centre’s Barton Square offers an extensive selection of modern furniture at competitive prices. The large glazed facade reflects Dwell’s stylish, contemporary image and Everseal’s laminated and gas filled units provide superb clarity of vision and provide an energy efficient solution to the building envelope in accordance with current regulations.

Quadrille Services, based in Wakefield, designed and installed the aluminium shopfront and Quadrille’s Managing Director, Jim Hutchinson, says the large sized IG units presented a problem for some glass processors, but not for FGI’s new Everseal range. The contract’s fast track build schedule also meant that Quadrille had to work to short lead times. Jim Hutchinson comments, “Everseal met the specification in terms of size, and thermal performance and FGI was able to deliver a high quality product to a very strict deadline.”

Float Glass Industries’ Everseal warm edge IG production line is capable of producing some of the largest insulating glass units in the country – up to 5m x 2.7m – and each stage is automated and computer-controlled for efficient output and faster delivery times. The advanced Bystronic line also utilises Kommerling’s TPS technology, which provides a unique all round, homogenous seal that reduces the heat transfer coefficient value of the window by up to 12% compared with a conventional edge seal with aluminium spacer bar. This results in a higher performance window offering greater energy savings – an essential factor in modern commercial buildings.
