Float Glass Industries is one of the UK’s longest-established glass companies. In the beginning, back in 1894, Float Glass Industries’ founders were glass artists creating leaded lights and stained glass windows.
Over the decades, the company evolved as glass merchants and glaziers through the war-time years to become major suppliers of glass, continuing through the commercial building boom of the 1970’s & 80’s when it was supplying customers in the UK and as far afield as Dubai and the Emirate States. Today, Float Glass Industries is at the forefront of glass supply nationwide, manufacturing toughened, processed and high performance insulated glass units as well as being the UK’s largest independent volume glass distributor.
Maintaining high standards is very important to Float Glass Industries, which is reflected in its continuous improvement policy. The company has recently completed a £2.5 million re-investment programme which includes a brand new 7,000 square foot factory extension and new machine technology to bring unrivalled product advantages to its customers.
The centrepieces of the investment are three state-of-the-art machinery installations: the Glaston FC500– 2800 x 6000 – Tempering Plant, which was the first to be installed in this country, a Forel 2.8 Vertical Edge Grinding Machine and a Busetti 2200 x 3000 Double Edging Line.
